Marshall has a five-watt combo, the Class5, that is incredibly user-friendly, yet gives amazing Marshall tone. This all-tube combo has two ECC83 Preamp Tubes and one EL84 Power Tube. The Class5 is a Class-A design, and has a warm, classic Marshall tone. The amp comes with one specially designed 16Ohm ten-inch Celestion G10F-15 speaker, which keeps the low-end solid, unlike many 1×10 combos. The speaker can be bypassed, allowing you to use a separate cabinet.
The Marshall Class5 control panel is about as simple as it can get. A three-band EQ of Treble, Mids, and Bass are the only controls other than Volume. The Volume knob is used for dialing in tone on this amp. When set low, you get a nice, clean sound. Around the mid-point you get a crunchy “Marshall” tone. If you turn it up even more, you have a sick gain for heavier playing.
As for construction, the Class5 is built by hand in the United Kingdom. The birch-ply interlocking finger construction gives the amp a great durability for the road, while supplying you with the signature Marshall tone. The amp is covered in Black Lavant tolex and the same grille cloth as other Marshall items, so you have that Marshall look, as well.
