Hughes and Kettner has created a monster of an amp, the TriAmp MKII, and it can play about any genre of music. This six (yes, six) channel amplifier has 100 watts of power, and runs off of thirteen tubes: nine 12AX7 Pre-Amp tubes, and four EL34 Power tubes. Although EL34 tubes are typically used to get that sought-after British sound, this amp will play anything from super-clean “Vintage Californian” tones to crazy, harsh metal tones.
The TriAmp has been broken down in to three sections, and each section has two channels. Section 1 is your clean section. Channel 1A plays a more American Clean tone, and 1B is British-sounding Clean. Both of Section 2’s channels have a British rock tone, one being Classic, and one Vintage. Section 3 has the highest gain. Channel 3A has a British sound to it, while 3B has an American tone to it. Each section has its own three-band EQ, as well as a Master Volume. The only Global controls used on the TriAmp are for Volume and Presence.
This amp comes standard with a footswitch. The TriAmp Footswitch has seven buttons: one for each channel, and one for the effects loop. The effects loop is built in to the amplifier, and is capable of being run in either serial or parallel mode.
