If you are looking for a compact, yet great sounding guitar amplifier, Epiphone’s Valve Junior is an excellent choice. This sixteen-pound amp only puts out five-watts of power, but the tone that it delivers rivals many larger, and more powerful amps. The Valve Junior sports one 12AX7 Preamp Tube and one EL84 Power tube. These tubes have been equipped with DC filaments, which reduce humming.
The Epiphone Valve Junior Head is a single-ended Class A amp, meaning it produces constant power, making it extremely responsive. The only control found on this amp is Volume, making it the lone way to change the tone. The lower you set the volume, the clearer the tone.
The head has 4, 8, and 16-Ohm speaker outputs, so you can play through virtually any cab. If you prefer a combo-style, however, the Epiphone Valve Junior does come in a combo, as well. The combo is set up exactly like the head, other than the fact that it doesn’t have the DC filaments. It has been fitted with a single 8-inch Eminence speaker.
