Mesa Boogie has been a leader in the guitar amp industry for decades, and their product line just keeps getting better. Their original Dual Rectifier Solo Heads had amazing success, but the sound and versatility just wasn’t good enough for Mesa. They wanted to keep all of the gain found in the Original Rectifier’s two channels, but have a channel dedicated to rhythm sounds. This resulted in the Triple Channel Dual Rectifiers.
As for wattage and power, the Mesa Three Channel Dual Rectifier is 100 watts class A/B Power. A Bias Select Switch allows the amp to use either four 6L6s or four EL34s, so you can get about any type of sound that you could want. Five 12AX7 preamp tubes are used, as well as two 5U4 rectifier tubes.
These new amps have two channels for Lead sounds, which now have three modes: Vintage, Modern, and Raw. The new third channel has two modes: Clean and Pushed. The Clean mode obviously is for your clean sounds, while the Pushed mode gives a medium to aggressive range of gain. A Solo Control feature can be found on these amps, too. It is a volume control that has been wired parallel to the Output Control, so you can use your footswitch to get a previously determined volume boost when needed.
